Amanita Species is the most photographed mushroom in the world. I love to shoot pictures of them from little to big. They are just beautiful at every stage but I never dare to eat any of them. The genus Amanita contains a few delicious species and, unfortunately, some of the most deadly. Making sure you have the right species before sitting down to dine is therefore absolutely essential. Identification can be rather difficult. Mistaking a poisonous species like Amanita pantherina or Amanita virosa for an edible one has led to the demise of a number of keen amateurs and even an occasional professional
mycologist.
