Beautiful Amanita Mushroom

Amanita Species is the most photographed mushroom in the world. I love to shoot pictures of them from little to big. They are just beautiful at every stage but I never dare to eat any of them. The genus Amanita contains a few delicious species and, unfortunately, some of the most deadly. Making sure you have the right species before sitting down to dine is therefore absolutely essential. Identification can be rather difficult. Mistaking a poisonous species like Amanita pantherina or Amanita virosa for an edible one has led to the demise of a number of keen amateurs and even an occasional professional
mycologist.

Wild Maitake Mushroom Jerky!

Maitake, science name: Grifola Frondosa, commonly knows as Hen of the woods. It is low in calories, fat-free, cholesterol-free, gluten-free, and very low in sodium, yet they provide important nutrients, including selenium, potassium, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin D and more.
Maitake in Japanese means ‘the dancing mushroom’. It is said that people were so excited when they found Maitake, a very precious mushroom and commodity in the old days, that they danced in joy. And there came the nickname. It has excellent taste and the top favorable wild mushroom. In addition to being a great edible there is growing evidence that it is highly medicinal, boosting the immune system to fight cancer and stabilizing blood sugar and blood pressure. Maitake may have antihypertensive and antidiabetic properties as well.
